This year marks the 150th anniversary of Sir James M Barrie's birth and celebrations are planned across the world for throughout 2010. The main focus of events will be in Kirriemuir, where the author was born on May 9, 1860 and where the Barrie 2010: A Celebration Of Imagination festival will be held. Running from May 7-May 23 and organised by the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust, there will be events designed to appeal to children and adults of all ages and tastes.
Theatre pieces will be complemented by events including readings and book signings by a host of authors, story telling, film nights, folk music, dance, poetry, guided walks and exhibitions. There will also be events covering genealogy, with more details soon to be announced. A full list of activities taking place in Kirriemuir during Barrie 2010 can be found on the Events Guide.
More is planned for throughout Angus itself and even further afield, including a live performance of Peter Pan at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, together with a number of Barrie themed walks during the Angus Glens Walking Festival.
